Four Excellent Ideas To Have A Traditional Kitchen

By Matthew Kerridge

I totally agree - an expensive kitchen is a woman's dream. It is the best place in the home and is a place where one can create culinary delights. But so many woman make the mistake in choosing a modern kitchen over a traditional kitchen. Today's minimalistic styles are nice, but they are uninviting and they are the reason why family members run off to the lounge rather than spending time in the kitchen with you.

To remedy this, lets have a look at four ways for you to get them back into the kitchen and communicating again:

Useful idea One: Accessories are very important in creating a traditional look. Think earthy objects like wicker baskets, dried vegetables stringed and hung somewhere, old looking storage tins and window blinds. These create an old feel that people will identify with immediately. Always have fresh flowers in an odd looking vase and some black and white photos against a wall, will set the tone for lots of conversation in your kitchen.

Idea Two: Wood just makes a room look intimate. It makes you want to spend time in it. Therefore it will be stunning if you could source a good oak. It is extremely durable and always looks most elegant when contrasted with old type dcor. If you don't have enough money to redo your entire kitchen cabinets, then only have oak doors installed on your existing shelves. No one will know the difference.

Useful idea Three: Correct lighting can be very appealing in a kitchen. It can create a fantastic ambiance in the room by subtly highlighting an expensive bowl or an antique that you inherited from a great aunt. Opt for some small recess lighting units to be installed under your cabinets and in your cabinets where you have glass panels.

Idea Four: Flooring will make or break your kitchen. It is the first thing our eye catches and will instantly make you like the kitchen or dislike it. Here you need to be really daring by using stone for your flooring needs. Slate makes a wonderful floor cover that is easy to clean and has marvelous textures and colors to choose from. A well known secret these days is to extend a piece of your slate flooring up on the wall, behind your stove and hob. This really makes a kitchen come alive and gives it a focal point.

You can have more of your family by creating a traditional kitchen. Place a personal object of each family member in your kitchen as well. These objects will always spark new conversational topics and before you know it, you have them talking! - 30241
