Kitchen Renovations Are The Best Investment In Your Home

By Matthew Kerridge

If you need to increase the value of your home, for whatever reason, start renovating your kitchen for the best return on investment. There are many ways to go about this, by either gutting the room completely or by small improvements.

Demolishing and beginning from scratch will probably give you a gorgeous room that you can admire, but it will be an expensive renovation. The good news is that you don't have to go all the way. You can improve some things and still end up with an impressive room.

For example, you can leave the existing cupboards in place and replace the doors. Refacing the cupboards will change the entire room's appearance and look brand new. But, for some people, even that can be too costly. So, perhaps painting the existing cupboard doors and change the hardware.

Even this will freshen up the room and give it a whole new look. You can even go a step further and paint the backsplash as well. That's right, you can paint the ceramic backsplash. All you need to do is sand the ceramics down so that they are dull, prime them and paint them a color of your choice.

It is recommended to change the counter top. This is not as pricey as you may believe it to be. Of course, there are so many choices to pick from, like laminate or marble, granite, concrete and ceramics. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, you can even install a granite-tile counter on your own. The look is outstanding and is only a fraction of the cost of a solid granite counter.

The flooring is very important. Most like ceramics because of the heavy traffic that they endure. So, if you are able to do it yourself, installing a ceramic tile floor would increase the value of your home. You may also want to add heated elements beneath to keep the floor warm.

You can also consider hardwood as a floor. Not only is it beautiful and extremely stylish it can increase the value of your home as many home buyers like them.

So, having said all that, if you want more bang for your buck, the best place to start improving on your home is the kitchen. And if you do a lot of the work yourself, you will definitely be a winner in the end. - 30241
