Rules For A Healthy Diet

It can be hard to eat healthy these days, especially with so much processed foods around us. Everywhere we go there are fast food places advertising their yummy food and tempting us. It takes a lot of will power to stay on the right track eating a healthy diet. Eating well can help you stay healthy.

Eating correctly means taking in the right amount of calories. Normally we need about two thousand calories a day to stay healthy. It can depend on each person, though. Everyone is a little bit different. Age, sex, weight, activity and height make a difference in the amount of calories that you will need.

You need to eat many different types of food. This means eating the foods that you normally wouldn't. Eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains. These foods are great for the body.

Portion control is also important. It is difficult to do- most restaurants give at least twice as much food as we should have on their plates. If you do go out a lot try splitting your meal or you can even try and order from the appetizer menu.

Your next trip to the grocery store should be a lot healthier. Buy a lot more legumes, grains, fruits and vegetables. These food are high in vitamins, minerals, fiber and complex carbohydrates. Water is important, too. Most people are dehydrated and don't even know it. Our body is mostly water so it is essential that we get enough. A healthy diet is nothing without a good amount of water.

Don't eat that much food with sugar and salt. Processed foods are also not good. Limit how much you take in your body. Did you know that in one year if you just drink on can of soda you can gain sixteen pounds? It's true- it is one thing that we don't think much about but soda can really defeat our whole diet if we don't be careful.

Remember that when eating a healthy diet that you need to enjoy life, too. Eating foods that are not good for you won't kill you if you eat them in moderation. Also, the more you exercise the healthier you will be. You can actually eat more if you burn calories from exercise during the day. So exercise and eat right- have a much better future. - 30241
